Much of James Cheng’s architectural reputation in Vancouver has been earned through the carefully considered residential plans he devises, with layouts that are not only efficient but always maximize natural light and urban living. Tower balconies are reconsidered here, and a high ratio of apartments will have views of Puget Sound and/or downtown’s dynamic landscape of towers. Along the line of balcony edges there will be innovative vertical glass sandwich panels containing painted ‘frits’ which will reduce glare and diffuse light into First Light’s residential suites.
